Why join us

EU Presence is the consolidation platform for European compliance — five regulatory regimes, one MSA. We've grown from a YC W26 batch to 500+ customers in twelve months and just closed a $12M Series A led by First Round Capital. The Data Protection Officer is our customers' day-to-day privacy practitioner, named on file with their lead supervisory authority and on Slack with their team.

  • Work in a fast-growing, high-impact startup environment with real founder access.
  • Remote-first with quarterly team off-sites in Zagreb and Dublin.
  • Build the privacy practice that will outlive every regulatory tool currently in market.
  • Founding-team equity in a category-defining company.

About the role

This is a part-time role based in Croatia with a clear trajectory toward full-time within six months. You'll join the Privacy practice as a named DPO across a portfolio of our customers — primarily US and global startups landing in the EU — and be the primary regulatory point of contact for their team and for the Croatian DPA where applicable.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as named Data Protection Officer for a portfolio of customer accounts under GDPR Art. 37–39.
  • Monitor compliance with GDPR, the DSA, NIS 2, and emerging EU privacy regulation.
  • Draft and review privacy policies, consent notices, ROPAs, and data processing agreements (DPAs).
  • Run customer-facing onboarding sessions and quarterly privacy reviews.
  • Triage data subject requests and represent customers in regulator correspondence.
  • Co-author client-facing primers and the company's regulatory blog.
  • Maintain working knowledge of cross-cutting legislation (DSA, NIS 2, AI Act) to advise customers across the broader EU compliance perimeter.

Requirements

  • Currently resident in Croatia with the right to work locally.
  • Minimum three years of in-house or advisory privacy experience.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR Articles 27, 37–39, and 12–22, including DPA mechanics.
  • Comfortable in client-facing settings — calls, written counsel, regulator correspondence.
  • Self-directed in a remote, async-first environment with frequent customer cadences.
  • Professional working English (other EU languages welcome).
  • Optional but valued: CIPP/E or equivalent privacy certification, prior DPA correspondence experience.

What we offer

  • Remote-first with full schedule flexibility — own your calendar, own your output.
  • A small, senior team where every hire shapes the company's voice and standards.
  • Clear path to a Head of Privacy (CEE) role within 12 months as the practice scales.
  • Mission alignment — every customer engagement is a real company you'll see grow.
