  1. Families, not part numbers

    One family covers every colourway, size and regional variant of the same underlying design. You are not charged for a catalogue; you are charged for the number of genuinely different products behind it.

  2. The file is assembled once

    Risk assessment, test reports, the declaration of conformity and the labelling pack — per family, kept current as the design changes rather than rebuilt when an authority asks.

  3. Our address goes on

    On the label, in the listing, and in the registry entries the marketplaces check. Amazon's listing validator recognises the format, which is usually the bit that unblocks a delisting.

  4. We watch and we respond

    Safety Gate alerts for your categories, market-surveillance questions answered, accidents filed inside two working days, and a recall executed across every member state it reaches.

Technical documentation

The risk analysis, the test reports and the declaration of conformity per family — kept for ten years after the last unit is placed on the market, which is longer than most product lines last.

Article 20

Accidents

An accident caused by a product must be reported through the Safety Business Gateway within two working days. The clock starts when you learn of it, not when you finish investigating.

Article 35 and 36

Recalls and warnings

Direct notice to every affected consumer you can identify, a public recall notice where you cannot, and the remedy — repair, replacement or refund — that Article 37 requires you to offer.

Traceability and marketplaces

The batch or serial identification on the product, and the information online marketplaces must be given before a listing can lawfully go live.

A named Responsible Person in the Union.

Regulation (EU) 2023/988 makes it unlawful to place a consumer product on the EU market unless an economic operator established in the Union is responsible for it. For a brand selling in from outside, that operator is a Responsible Person — and without one, customs can hold the shipment and the marketplace can delist the listing.

Common questions

What teams ask us first.

Is this the same thing as the GPSR representative?

The Responsible Person is part of it. Product Safety is the product: the registry, the technical files, Safety Gate monitoring, recalls and the Article 16 role together. If all you need is the role itself, that is the piece described on the GPSR Representative page — but it is bought as Product Safety either way.

What counts as a product family?

One underlying design. Every colourway, size, voltage variant and regional SKU of that design is the same family, because they share a risk assessment and a technical file. Five families are included and the bands above them are published.

We sell through Amazon. Do they not handle this?

No. Marketplaces are obliged to check that a Responsible Person exists before a listing goes live, which is why a missing one gets you delisted rather than covered. The obligation is the brand's.

Does this cover CE marking and testing?

The file, the declaration and the role — not the laboratory. Where a product needs testing by a notified body we will tell you and work to the report, but we do not issue test reports ourselves.

What happens if we stop?

The role ends on 30 days' notice and the registries are updated. Until it does you stay covered: a consumer product on the EU market with no Responsible Person is a product that can be stopped at the border.
