Pay for a contractor
Start the fixed monthly Contractor of Record fee in Stripe's checkout from the contractor's record, once our team has approved the engagement.
Each contractor on our Contractor of Record service is a subscription of US$227 a month, paid in Stripe's checkout. You start it from the contractor's record once our team has approved the engagement.
Before you pay
- The record's Onboarding must read Awaiting payment. Until our team approves the engagement it reads Awaiting review, and the record says payment becomes available after approval.
- The contractor's record must have no end date. Payment is refused for a contractor engaged with a Fixed end date, as it is once an engagement has been ended.
- You need to be a workspace admin.
- Your company's legal details must be saved. If the checkout asks you to add them under Settings › Organization, see organisation details first.
Start the payment
- Go to People › Contractors and select the contractor.
- In Contractor of Record service, select Pay US$227 monthly.
- Stripe's checkout form opens in a panel. Enter your payment details and pay inside the form.
- Wait for Stripe to confirm the payment. If you close the panel, the page keeps waiting.
When Stripe confirms, Onboarding reads Ready for finalization, Billing reads Active and Next renewal shows the date of the next charge. The record says our team will file the executed agreement and complete onboarding, and our operations team is told the payment is confirmed.
You can also pay from Settings › Subscriptions, which lists everyone awaiting payment with the same Pay US$227 monthly button.
What the fee covers
The fee is EU Presence's service fee for the contractor, fixed at US$227 a month. Each contractor's subscription renews monthly from its own first payment, and nothing is prorated.
The checkout carries the fee alone. The rate you recorded on the engagement isn't charged through it, and contractor records don't offer a background check.
After you've paid
- Settings › Billing lists every invoice Stripe has issued to your workspace, and opens Stripe's billing portal, where you manage your card and payment details. See Manage billing.
- If a renewal fails, the record's Billing reads Payment failed. An onboarding that's already complete stays complete. See What happens when a payment fails.
- Ending the engagement ends the subscription. See End a contractor's engagement.
