Check whether an email was sent

Use the email outbox to see every email sent about your workspace, who it went to, and whether it was sent or refused.

Updated 2 min read

Settings › Email outbox lists every email sent about your workspace, newest first, and whether our email provider accepted it. Each attempt to send is a line of its own. Everyone on your team can open it; a DPO can't open Settings.

What's listed

The Message column names each email and who it was for:

  • Your team: emails to your members, such as a request filed through your Privacy Center or an executed agreement filed.
  • EU Presence: the notes our operations team receives about your workspace, such as a new hire or a mandate signed.
  • Data subject: what goes out in your name to the people behind privacy requests and content notices, such as acknowledgements and decisions.

Two kinds of email aren't here: what our identity provider sends, such as invitations to join the workspace, and the emails Stripe sends about payments.

Read a line

Each line shows the Recipient, the Subject they saw, the Message, its Outcome and the date it was Sent. Select a line to see the exact time and the provider's reference and, for a refused email, Why it did not arrive. The body of an email isn't kept, so there's no preview.

The search box finds lines by recipient address. There's no retry or resend button: the outbox is the record of what was sent.

Sent and Refused

Sent means our email provider accepted the message. If the provider later reports that it never arrived, the same line changes to Refused.

Why it did not arriveWhat it means
The provider refused the attemptNothing went out. The email is retried automatically, and each retry is a new line, so look for a later line marked Sent. An email your Privacy Center sends to an address the provider won't accept, such as a mistyped one, isn't retried.
A bounce, with its typeThe provider accepted the email but it never reached the recipient, and it isn't retried. A permanent bounce means the address is wrong; a transient one may still arrive.
A spam complaintThe recipient reported the email as spam.
A placeholder addressThe request was filed by phone with a placeholder address, which is never emailed. Reach the person another way.
