Remove someone from your workspace

Take away a member's access from Settings › Members, and see what happens to their work afterwards.

Updated 1 min read

Removing a member ends their access to your workspace at once. Their account isn't deleted, and the record of their work stays.

Remove a member

  1. Go to Settings › Members.
  2. Open the menu at the end of the person's row and select Remove from organization. If you've opened their details instead, the menu at the top offers Remove.
  3. In the dialog, select Remove from organization, or Keep them to stop.

Only an Admin can remove members. You can't remove yourself, so your own row has no menu: another Admin has to do it. There's no role to change instead, because every colleague is an Admin; see Roles and permissions.

What happens next

  • They lose access to this workspace as soon as you confirm. Their account stays, and so do any other workspaces they belong to.
  • No email is sent to them.
  • The audit log records the removal, with the role they held.
  • What they were assigned, such as a privacy request, stays assigned to them, and their audit log entries keep their name.
  • If they were the primary contact, nobody is named any more. Name someone else under Settings › Organization.

To bring them back, invite them again.

Removing a DPO

A Data Protection Officer is listed with the DPO role and can be removed the same way. That takes away their access, but it doesn't end their service or stop its billing. A monthly DPO service is listed under Settings › Subscriptions; see Cancel a subscription and Hire a DPO.
