Cancel a subscription
End a register subscription or Pro at the close of the paid period, take the cancellation back before then, and see what happens to the register and its records.
Cancelling a register subscription or Pro stops its billing when the period you've already paid for runs out. Nothing ends partway through a period, so nothing is refunded, and you can take the cancellation back until the end date. Only an Admin can cancel.
Cancel from Settings › Subscriptions
- Go to Settings › Subscriptions.
- Open the menu at the end of the subscription's row and select End at period end.
- The End this subscription dialog names the date billing stops. Select End at period end to confirm.
Once Stripe has the change, the row's Period reads Ends with the date.
Take a cancellation back
Before the end date, open the same row menu in Settings › Subscriptions, select Keep it renewing, and confirm with Keep it renewing in the dialog. The subscription renews as it did before, and nothing extra is charged for taking the cancellation back.
What happens to the register
Until the end date the register stays open, with a note above its tabs saying when it closes, and its row on the Home Subscriptions card gives the date too. On that date the register closes:
- Every tab shows the register's page instead of its records. Nothing is deleted, and the register's files stay in Documents.
- Your Privacy Center stops showing the register's public pages and forms, such as the request form for Privacy or the notice form for Content Safety.
- A DPO working with you can no longer open the register.
- The workspace gets a notification that the register closed.
To reopen it, select Subscribe again on the register's page. The mandate you signed is still on file, so the register opens as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. See Open a register.
What happens when Pro ends
The workspace stays on Pro until the end date, then moves to Free. Its custom domains, brand hubs and policy translations pause; nothing is deleted, and upgrading again brings them back. See Free and Pro plans.
Ending other services
Ending the subscription of an employee's or contractor's service stops the bill, but doesn't off-board the person: that's done from their record. See Off-board an employee and End a contractor's engagement. A monthly DPO service ends along with its subscription, at the close of the paid period; see Manage or end a DPO service.
