Publish a policy in other languages
On Pro, add German, French and seven more languages to a policy, each with its own name, versions and address beside the English text.
Every policy's base text is English. On Pro you can add a translation in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Romanian or Greek. Each translation has its own name, short description and version history, and is published at its own address beside the English page. On Free, the Policies tab shows a Multi-language policies Pro note instead (see Free and Pro).
Add a translation
- Go to Privacy Center › Policies. On the policy's card, select Add translation.
- In Add a translation, pick the Language, and give the Name and Short description in that language.
- Under First version, give a Version label, which must be unique within the language and may match the English version it translates, and write the Body.
- Select Add and publish, or Save as draft.
The translation's address adds the language code to the policy's, so the German privacy policy is at /policies/privacy/de. Its first version needs no summary of what changed. Later ones do, compared with the version before them in the same language.
Work on one language
Each card has a strip of its languages. Select a language to see its versions, with its version in force, draft or paused beside its name. Publish version and the version menus then act on that language, in the same way as for English (see Publish a policy). In the card's menu, Edit German details, or the equivalent for the language selected, opens that translation. Its own Edit details changes its name and short description.
What visitors see
- Your hub lists each policy once: in English while English is in force, and otherwise in its first translation that is.
- A policy with two or more texts in force shows a language switcher, naming each language in its own words, such as Deutsch or Français.
- The policy's card on the hub shows the codes of the languages it can be read in, such as
EN · DE.
Remove a translation
Select the language on the card, open the menu and select Remove German, or the language you've selected, then Remove translation. The language and every version of it are deleted, published ones included, and its address stops answering. The policy and its other languages stay.
Can't be undone. To hide a policy without deleting anything, use Unpublish, which takes it off the hub in every language at once (see Unpublish or delete a policy).
If the workspace goes back to Free
Translations are kept with their names and every version, but marked Paused and not served. A translation's address redirects to the policy's English page, and the hub lists English texts alone, so a policy in force only in a translation isn't listed. You can still draft, revise and discard a translation's versions, rename it and remove it, but publishing waits for Pro. Upgrading serves the translations again as they were.
