Product families included in your plan
How the register counts product families, and what happens beyond the five your Product Safety fee includes.
What counts as a family
A product family is a product type from our catalogue: the one you pick on the first step of the registration sheet.
- All your products of the same type are one family, whatever their category.
- Each product registered with My product isn't listed, or in a category with no product types, is a family of its own.
- Withdrawn and deleted products don't count.
- A type later removed from our catalogue still counts while your products use it.
Editing a product never changes its type, so an edit never changes the count.
What's included and billed
Your Product Safety fee includes five product families. Each family beyond five is billed with the next invoice. What's billed is the number of families in use when each billing period closes; registering, withdrawing or deleting a product updates it. While your subscription bills usage, the notice above the tiles on the Product registry tab says how many families are in use against the number your subscription includes and what the rest come to. Before you subscribe, the Subscribe to Product Safety row on the register's page states what the fee includes.
For the prices and how usage appears on your invoices, see usage charges.
